Professional Learning Hub

AT A GLANCE

The Professional Learning Hub is designed for clusters of schools or stand-alone schools wanting to focus on deliberate and intentional collaboration to grow collective efficacy.

PROFESSIONAL LEARNING HUB

Quality leadership and teaching have a powerful effect on maximising student outcomes. In generating and supporting continuous improvement to achieve large scale and sustainable reform, Elmore, and Burney (1999) identified seven key organising principles:

They included:

  1. It’s about instruction and only instruction.
  2. Instructional improvement is a long, multistage process involving awareness, planning, implementation, and reflection.
  3. Shared expertise is the driver of instructional change.
  4. The focus is on system-wide improvement.
  5. Good ideas come from talented people working together.
  6. Set clear expectations, then decentralise.
  7. Collegiality, caring, and respect are paramount (p272)

The Professional Learning Hub is designed for clusters of schools or stand-alone schools wanting to focus on deliberate and intentional collaboration to grow collective efficacy.

Dr Liz Irwin, HILL Group’s Director, has experienced the power of Professional Learning Hubs and has been instrumental in the rigorous design of the powerful learning choices that deliberately focus on leadership and learning.

The unswerving focus of each Professional Learning Hub is on further refining the quality and capability of leaders and teachers, which will be directly aligned to, and ultimately improve student learning outcomes (Hattie, 2014)

Our proposal for establishing pivotal Professional Learning Hubs involves educators from a school, or a cluster of schools,  working, learning, and growing together – collectively and professionally.
